Lincoln Squash Leagues
Rules as amended 1st August 2009
1) Matches to be played on the nominated weekends. Matches may only be re-arranged due to non-availability of courts and with the approval of the fixture secretary through the team captains with at least 2 weeks notice. 2) The home team to be responsible for arranging the fixture time and the date through the fixture Secretary. 3) Both home and away captains to nominate the order of there players prior to there entry on to the results card. 4) The recommended order of play to be 5,4,1,3 & 2 with the team’s strongest player deemed to be number one and the weakest player to play at number five. 5) Annual subscriptions are £30.00 per team. 6) Matches to be played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Friday matches to start after 7-00PM. 7) No player may play for more than one club, and must be a bona fide member of that club. 8) A player may play for other teams within the club subject to the following rules: a)Any team player may represent their club in a higher team for a maximum of three games providing the teams are not in the same division. b) When playing for the higher team the player must play at the lowest string possible. c) The first team a player plays for is the team he or she is registered with and can only be changed with a written request to the fixture secretary who will bring it to the attention of the full committee for approval at the next monthly meeting. Until approval has been granted rules 8a and 8b shall apply. 9) The leagues shall consist of four divisions – Premier and divisions 1,2 & 3. This will depend on the number of teams entering each season. 10) Division 3. Lincolnshire and other county league male players are excluded. Female Lincolnshire league players are able to play in this division. 11) The premier and division one is open to all standards of players, including all levels of Lincolnshire league players. Division 2 is open to Lincolnshire league players. County league players are also to be allowed. Abuse of rules 10 and 11 will result in forfeiture of the match and 19 points. 12) Players must be named on the result card prior to the commencement of play. Only players written on the said card are permitted to play. No changes are permitted once play has begun. 13) Should any player fail to turn up when due to play and has not done so before the end of matches played, the offending team will forfeit all points below and including the string which that player should have played. The games and points will be awarded to the opposition. 14) Promotion and relegation will be at the discretion of the committee. Other rules Concerning promotion and relegation may be reviewed at the Annual General Meeting. 15) Clubs may enter more than one team at the discretion of the committee. 16) Matches to consist of five rubbers. Each rubber to be the best of five games. In the event of court time running out, the home team shall forfeit the remaining games only, but will retain any points gained prior to that. 17) Rule 16 will not apply and points will be awarded to the home team if the away team were not ready to start on time and therefore the court time runs out. 18) Each team shall consist of five players who must play in strict order of merit. The committee will consider any appeals concerning the order of play. All appeals to be put in writing by the captain of the team and given to the club representative for discussion at the next monthly meeting. Obvious abuse of the above rule could result in a points deduction. 19) Every game won shall score one point to that team. A bonus of four points will be awarded to the winning team (decided on rubbers). a) If a team forfeits there game for any reason other than none availability of courts four points will be deducted for failing to fulfil the fixture. b) If a team turns up for a fixture with less than the required five players, two points will be deducted for each missing player. 20) All matches to be properly marked. Responsibility is with the home team to organise markers (the Recommendation is three games by the home team and two games by the away team). 21) The rules of play are those of the Squash Rackets Association (SRA) and unless both captains agree otherwise a double yellow spot approved ball shall be used. The home team must provide two new balls for each match. 22) Result cards must be received by the Fixture Secretary on or before the Wednesday following the match. Four penalty points will be deducted for a late card. Should the Fixture Secretary not receive the results card prior to the next committee meeting following the fixture then the offending team will forfeit 19 points.

Premier and Division 1 in section A
Each string in the Premier side and
Division 2 sides will be handicapped by 5 points per
game when meeting opposition from a lower division. Scoring will start Minus 5 - 0 Games will be best of 5 games
Each round will be re-drawn
Games must
be played within specified weekend although home
match times may vary with clubs hosting more than one
home team.
